A first version is worth more when it answers a question.
How to use a prototype to decide what to build, before investing in the whole platform.

Start with the decision, not the screens
A first version of an AI product should help you make a decision. It can show whether a journey makes sense, whether an integration is viable or whether a process needs human intervention. Trying to prove everything at once makes the result hard to interpret.
Before designing, write down one concrete question: can your team review and approve a quote without copying information between tools? That question defines the journey you need to see and keeps you from building features that do not yet provide evidence.
Separate what is visible from what already works
A prototype can have real screens and sample data. A technical test can connect two tools without a finished interface. Both help, as long as it is clear which part works and which part is a hypothesis.

Test what can go wrong too
Beyond the ideal journey, review incomplete information, integration errors, missing permissions and requests a person must decide. A demo that only shows the perfect case does not explain how the operation will hold up.
Pick representative examples without exposing personal data or secrets. Record what happened, what you expected and what is still unvalidated. That list is worth more than an approval based only on appearance.
Close with a verifiable next step
When the review ends, the decision can be to build, adjust, investigate a dependency or stop the idea. Any of these can be a good conclusion if it rests on what you learned.
The next stage needs an owner, deliverables and acceptance criteria. That way the first version becomes a tool to reduce uncertainty, not a bigger promise than what it proves.
